Every St. Catharine student attends music, gym, and technology two times each week and enjoys a weekly art class and library visit.
Our students participate in field trips for an opportunity to learn outside the classroom or to apply classroom learning to the real world. Field trip costs are kept at a reasonable rate thanks to sponsorship by our PTA. Similarly, our PTA provides on-site enrichment events at school, including animal, arts, science, STEM, and other programming.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in service-learning activities. Older students volunteer at organizations such as Matthew 25. Younger students communicate with elderly parishioners. All students participate in fundraisers, and special collection drives to help the less fortunate throughout the year, all with an emphasis on service to the community.
A vibrant scouting community is available for St. Catharine students of all ages. Boy Scout Troop 177 and Cub Scout Troop 188 provide fun, hands-on learning, service, and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life. Girl Scouts troops at all levels prepare girls to empower themselves and promote compassion, courage, confidence, character, leadership, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship through activities involving camping, community service, learning first aid, and earning badges by acquiring practical skills.
We have a wonderful school and sports program for our children, and the St. Catharine Athletic Association is committed to keeping this program thriving and working towards making it even stronger. We coordinate teams in: baseball, softball, basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, and track & field.
A biannual ski trip to Perfect North is a highly-anticipated adventure for our 7th and 8th graders.
Our annual Art Show gives our students the opportunity to showcase their talent to family and friends.
Catholic Schools Week is five days packed full of all kinds of fun.
Palio — the celebration of the Feast Day of St. Catherine of Siena on April 29 — is our annual re-enactment of the famous Palio Race which takes place twice yearly in Siena, Italy, the birthplace of St. Catharine.
Field Day is a fun way to wrap up a successful year… and to get a new t-shirt!
Ice Cream Emergencies provide welcome relief on those hot days at the beginning or end of the school year.
St. Catharine itself is a wonderful environment in which to attend school. The parish has been an excellent steward of its school building for 120 years. The school is well-maintained and has many amenities that enhance its classrooms. These amenities include: a student art gallery in the main hallway, a prayer room, a computer lab, a science lab, music and art rooms, an outdoor courtyard as well as a full-size gymnasium. We are also fortunate to have Ryan Park in our backyard. This green space and its spectacular playscape are often used for student recess, physical education classes, and special school events.
